Free Course Section

The course section is one we are continually adding to. In this section you will find tutorials for popular software packages and operating systems, as well as programming/scripting tutorials.

We have also included some basic computer arithmetic tutorials for those who want to extend their knowledge.

Currently the tutorials include Windows 98, Windows XP, Yahoo Messenger and more (the courses come in sections and you can get the follow on as they are updated). Tips and Tricks Section

The tips & tricks section is also updated regularly to include different computer programs. We use screenshots to make things easier and there is also a printer friendly page with some of the tutorials, which helps make the task easier offline.

In this section you will find tips and tricks for Windows® 98 and XP, Internet Explorer®, Netscape Communicator® and Outlook Express®. Tips and Tricks for Windows® Vista® will be added to this section shortly, which will include keyboard shortcuts and general tips. Computer Books Section

The books section contains a selection of the best PC related books along with reviews and also a SAFE and SECURE link to buy the books online, which will save money on the retail price. Subjects include programming/scripting books, PC repair books, beginners books, software specific books and books on the subject of the Internet. Computer Dictionary

The searchable computer dictionary is aimed at people who don't really understand what the man in the computer shop is talking about.

It is added to regularly and should provide a simple explanation of most IT (Information Technology) phrases and acronyms. Computer Maintenance Guide

The maintenance guide will give you a number of useful ideas in order to keep your computer healthy and to ensure that it doesn't get slowed down by files that you don't need.

This section contains guides including backing up, a look at surge protection and how to clean your mouse and your keyboard. Computer Upgrading Section

The upgrading section will take you step by step through the most common upgrading tasks, i.e., installing memory (ram), CD-Writer installation, etc. You will be shown by way of photographs and text (in plain English) and will be guided safely through the process from start to finish. Internet Guide

The Internet guide has information regarding Internet Child Safety, Email & Email Services and a guide to Search Engines. The email section gives examples of what the different free email providers have to offer, as well as a beginners guide to email, which explains email-related jargon and how the email system works.

The search engine section contains tips and help on how to search the Internet. There is also a page with the major search engines, so that you can search each one from one single page.

The freeware / shareware section contains free computer programs and trials for you to try, and explains what freeware and shareware are.

Also included is a guide to web-hosting companies, which will help you find a web-hosting package that suits you. HTML Guide

The HTML section is designed to be a reference for people starting off in the world of HTML and web design. It includes a guide to the set of HTML tags, a list of ISO 8859 codes and a list of HTTP status codes.

We will also be adding a basic course to this section to help people start off with HTML. The course will also give tips on how to use an FTP program to upload files and also some basic JavaScript.
