After using windows for several months,you may find your windows xp , vista , 98 , ME starts up slower.One of the ways to increase the startup time for windows is to remove unwanted programs from starting up during windows boot up time.Some times the programs maybe less frequently used still it will start up and gets minimised to system tray consuming your memory resources.

The easiest way to disable a program from startup is by editing the registry.Follow the below steps to enable or disable a program startup.

1.click run from start menu

2.type “regedit” without quotes

3.browse to this folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

4. For example ,here I am going to remove windows defender from the automatic startup.

select the entry and press delete button in your keyboard.

you will be asked for a confirmation.Click yes.

5.Next time you load windows, windows defender will not be started.

3. give any name you want and the path of the program or the exe file.

4.If everything is correct,the program will startup during your next windows startup.

 

Note: This trick can also be used to remove certain viruses which starts up during windows startup.Just delete the entries that you think are suspicious.Goto the path of that entry and delete the file after a windows restart.

Most startup viruses can be removed by this process.
