The Cisco Certified Network Professional, or CCNP, is the intermediate certification track offered by Cisco. As a stand-alone certification, or as part of the path for those who wish to become CCIE certified, the CCNP is targeted at those who have a good working knowledge of networks and the inherent tasks that are needed to install, configure, administer, troubleshoot medium to large-sized systems.
In order to become a certified CCNP, candidates must first hold a valid CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification which is essentially Cisco's entry-level networking certification, and then pass 4 further CCNP exams.
